MADISON, WI – Herkimer, LLC, a start-up company specializing in Web development and graphic design, announced today the completion of its first major project. www.McBrideCompanies.com has been in development for approximately three months, with Herkimer handling every phase from concept, interface design, and photography, to database programming and coding of the site’s nearly 50 pages.

“We built this site with one primary goal,” said Herkimer owner Nathan Marks, “to streamline the workflow of the employees at the McBride Companies.” Marks explained further, “McBride owner, Phil Hees, came to us and expressed that he had been seeking a user-friendly Web presence that would decrease the amount of time he spent showing apartments each year, while providing a resource for his current tenants to make their residency with McBride more convenient and enjoyable.”

The Web site was developed with lush contemporary graphics, a deep feature-set, and extremely simple navigation. It includes both location and criteria-based apartment searches, and a database with almost 6000 unit attributes. The ‘Resident Corner’ section contains many useful links (laundry status update, parking info, utility companies contacts, etc.) and a Frequently Asked Question area. The site also includes a ‘Maintenance Request Form’ for tenants to request work on their units any time of day or night.

“The entire process has been very pleasant for me,” stated Hees. He added, “I was more than a little apprehensive about the whole deal initially, due to the fact that this tool will be very important for me, so I wanted it right, right, right. The result is most excellent and very user-friendly. The site really wows me!”

One of the key features implemented after the project began was the addition of administrative tools that allow employees of the McBride Companies to update unit attributes such as rent, availability date, and sublet status. These features will allow McBride more control over the rental process and save the company money by permitting it to make Web site changes in-house.
